Google Rolls Out May 2026 Android 16 Update for Pixel With Charging, Camera, and Display Fixes

Google has started sending its May 2026 software update to Pixel smartphone users around the world. This update, based on Android 16, began rolling out on Tuesday, May 6.

It supports many devices, starting from the Pixel 7a and going up to the latest Pixel 10 series, including Pixel 10 Pro, Pixel 10 Pro XL, Pixel 10 Pro Fold, Pixel 10a, Pixel Tablet, and Pixel Fold. The update comes with build number CP1A.260505.005. Pixel users can check for it manually by going to Settings, then System, then Software update, and tapping on “Check for updates.”

One major issue fixed in this update is slow wireless charging. Earlier, some Pixel phones would charge very slowly after the battery reached around 75 to 80 percent in certain situations, which frustrated users. This problem is now fixed for devices like Pixel 7a through Pixel 10a. The update also fixes camera problems, especially on the Pixel 10, where the camera app could freeze during video recording if the user tried to change the zoom at the same time.

Display-related problems from earlier versions have also been fixed. Some users saw a flickering white dot or visual noise at the top of the screen in certain cases. Others noticed screen fuzziness, freezing, or lines appearing across the display.

Google has fixed these issues, making the display smoother. In addition, the update improves overall system stability and performance in different situations, although some improvements may depend on the user’s carrier or region.

Security is also an important part of this update. It includes the full May 2026 Android security patch, which helps protect devices from new threats. For developers and advanced users, especially those using Pixel 10 series devices, there is an important change.

This update includes a bootloader update that increases anti-rollback protection. After installing it, users cannot go back to older Android 16 versions, which helps prevent security risks from older software. Google has advised users to be careful if they are using custom setups.

The update is being rolled out gradually, so not all users will receive it at the same time. It depends on location, carrier, and device version. If the update is not available yet, users should keep checking over the next few days.

This monthly update shows Google’s continued effort to fix user-reported problems quickly, similar to past fixes for lock screen issues after the March update and battery or touch issues in December. Pixel users have come to expect these regular improvements, which help make their devices more reliable for everyday use.
