OpenAI Turns ChatGPT Into an AI Superapp With Coding Tools, Agents, and Partner Services Ahead of Possible IPO

OpenAI is making the biggest change ever to ChatGPT. It wants to turn the chatbot into a much bigger platform, called an AI superapp. This new version will bring coding tools, AI agents that can do tasks for you, image creation, and services from other companies into one single place.

According to a report by the Financial Times, these updates will start coming out in the next few weeks on both the ChatGPT website and on mobile apps for iPhone and Android. OpenAI is doing this to get more people to use its paid services, to fight harder against rival company Anthropic, and to earn more money before it might list its shares on the stock market.

The new design will change how ChatGPT looks. It will add fresh prompts and features that gently guide users toward coding with Codex, making images, and opening partner apps like Canva and Booking.com.

This makes ChatGPT feel less like a simple talking bot and more like a door to paid products. Codex, OpenAI’s tool for writing code, will get more attention and support because most people who use Codex already pay for it. OpenAI sees Codex as a key way to earn money as it moves closer to going public.

OpenAI’s long-term goal is to build a system that understands what you mean and helps you with many tasks without needing long, detailed instructions. To reach this, the company is focusing on AI agents that can act on your behalf in both your personal life and your work.

Business customers already bring in a lot of money, about 40 percent of OpenAI’s total revenue, and the company expects this to grow to 50 percent by the end of 2026 as it focuses more on big companies.

This superapp plan builds on earlier reports that OpenAI wants ChatGPT to become its main app for regular users by adding more services into one place. The timing is important because ChatGPT now has more than 900 million users every week and 50 million people who pay for consumer subscriptions.

At the same time, OpenAI has reportedly filed secret paperwork for a possible stock market listing in the United States, but it has not set a clear date and says going public will depend on market conditions and whether it is the right move for the business.

When the changes arrive, users will see a cleaner layout, clearer coding features, better image tools, and faster access to partner apps. OpenAI is now treating ChatGPT more as the starting point for paid AI products instead of just a standalone chatbot.

This move also supports OpenAI’s bigger dream of a personal agent that helps people in every part of life, whether they are writing code, planning travel, creating designs, or handling daily tasks, all from inside the same ChatGPT app.
