About Transom
Transom builds the standard Instagram embed markup — the same blockquote-and-script pair Instagram itself provides — from any public post or reel link. Paste a link, set a width, and paste the result into your site's HTML.
Features
- Works with posts, reels, and IGTV links
- Adjustable embed width from 326px to 658px
- Toggle the caption on or off
- Live preview using Instagram's own embed script
- One-tap copy of the finished code block
- Nothing is uploaded — the link is only used to build the markup
How to use it
- Paste the public link to an Instagram post or reel (the "Copy link" option from the Instagram share menu).
- Set a width and decide whether the caption should show.
- Tap "Generate embed code," then "Preview" to check how it will look.
- Copy the code and paste it into your page's HTML where you want the post to appear.
Frequently asked questions
Does this work for private accounts?
No. Only posts and reels from public accounts can be embedded — Instagram's embed script won't render content from private accounts for people who don't follow them.
Why is the preview blank or shows a link instead of the post?
The preview loads Instagram's own embed script live, so it needs an active connection to instagram.com. If a page's security settings block that script, the code will still work correctly once pasted onto a live site.
Do I need to paste the script tag every time?
No — if you're embedding several posts on the same page, you only need Instagram's embed script once. Extra copies are harmless, but you can safely remove duplicates.
Can I embed a whole profile or story instead of one post?
Not with this tool — it's built specifically for single post, reel, and IGTV links, which is what Instagram's public embed format supports.
Will the embed update if the original post changes?
Yes. The embed always pulls the current version of the post directly from Instagram, including like counts and caption edits — this tool only generates the pointer to it.
