Redmi K90 Max Launches with 8550mAh Battery, Cooling Fan and Dimensity 9500 for Gamers

Xiaomi has quietly taken its Redmi K-series to a new level by launching the Redmi K90 Max in China. It is being placed as one of the most powerful phones in mid-2026. This phone builds on the K90 and K90 Pro Max models but replaces the Snapdragon 8 Elite chips with the MediaTek Dimensity 9500 processor.

It also adds special hardware cooling with a built-in fan and a very large 8,550mAh battery. Early reports say it is mainly made for gamers and heavy users who want long performance without charging often.

The Redmi K90 Max runs on Android 16 with HyperOS 3, giving it the latest software with Xiaomi’s own features and gaming tools. It has a 6.83-inch M10 display with 1.5K resolution (1,280 × 2,772 pixels), a 165Hz refresh rate, and very fast touch response up to 480Hz, with an instant touch response up to 3,500Hz. This helps reduce lag and makes games and scrolling smoother. The display also supports Dolby Vision and HDR10+ and can reach about 3,500 nits brightness, so it is easy to see even in strong sunlight.

Inside, the Dimensity 9500 chipset comes with up to 16GB LPDDR5X RAM and up to 1TB UFS 4.0 storage, which is uncommon at this price. This shows Xiaomi wants the phone to handle heavy use and multitasking for a long time.

The phone also includes a D2 display chip, which improves gaming by adding features like frame boosting and resolution scaling, making games smoother without using too much extra power. Because of this dual-chip system, the K90 Max is being promoted as a strong gaming phone, especially for long gaming sessions.

To stop the phone from overheating, Xiaomi has added a powerful cooling system. Inside, there is a 6,000 mm² cooling pump and over 12,000 mm² graphite material to spread heat. On top of that, there is an active cooling fan that can reduce the temperature by about 10°C in around 100 seconds during heavy use. This type of fan cooling is still rare in smartphones and shows that Xiaomi is targeting serious mobile gamers who care more about performance than slim design or silent operation.

The camera system is simpler compared to some top flagship phones but still meets modern needs. The phone has a dual rear camera, with a 50MP main camera (f/1.68, with optical image stabilization) for better low-light and moving shots. The second camera is 8MP, likely used for portrait or extra framing. On the front, there is a 20MP selfie camera placed in a punch-hole cutout. There is no special information about advanced camera software, but users can expect good normal photo performance based on Xiaomi’s current software.

Audio is one of the strong points of the K90 Max. Xiaomi has partnered with Bose to tune the speakers. The phone has an 1115× symmetrical dual-speaker setup, designed to give balanced and loud sound for videos, games, and calls. This is useful for people who use the phone without headphones, as it keeps sound clear even at high volume. The audio works well with the bright and smooth display, making the phone good for long entertainment use.

For connectivity, the Redmi K90 Max supports 5G, Wi-Fi 7, and many navigation systems like GPS/AGPS, Galileo, GLONASS, BeiDou, and NavIC. NavIC support is useful in India for better location accuracy. The phone also includes NFC, OTG, Bluetooth, and a USB-Type-C port. It has a 3D ultrasonic fingerprint sensor under the screen and other sensors like ambient light sensor, gyroscope, accelerometer, IR remote, and flicker sensor.

The battery is one of the key highlights of this phone. The phone has a very large 8,550mAh battery, bigger than most phones in 2025–2026. It uses silicon-carbon (Si-C) technology for better efficiency and longer life. It supports 100W fast charging, which can fully charge the phone in about 30–40 minutes. It also supports 22.5W reverse wired charging, so it can charge other devices like a power bank using the USB-C port.

For build quality, the Redmi K90 Max has IP66, IP68, and IP69 ratings, meaning it is protected from dust, water, and even high-pressure water. This level of protection is rare even in some flagship phones, making it very durable. The phone comes in Space Silver, Shadow Black, and Sky Blue colors. It is slightly thicker and heavier than slim phones because of the big battery and cooling system, but this helps with longer battery life and better performance.

In China, the price starts at CNY 2,999 (about ₹41,000) for 12GB + 256GB. The 12GB + 512GB and 16GB + 256GB versions cost CNY 3,499 (about ₹47,000). The 16GB + 512GB model is CNY 3,999 (about ₹54,000), and the top 16GB + 1TB model costs CNY 4,699 (about ₹64,000). For Indian users, this means the phone may launch in the upper mid-range or premium mid-range segment, above the K90 but below the K90 Pro Max, with a focus on battery and gaming.
