Google Tensor G7 Leak Reveals 2nm Chip Plans for Pixel 12 AI Smartphones

Google is expected to use its next-generation Tensor G7 chip in the Pixel 12 series in 2027. New leaks have revealed the internal codename and some manufacturing details of the upcoming processor.

The Tensor G7 is reportedly called “Lajolla” or “LaJolla” internally. This continues Google’s tradition of using California-inspired names for its chips, following Tensor G5’s “Laguna” and the upcoming Tensor G6’s “Malibu”.

According to online reports linked to anonymous Telegram tipsters, the Tensor G7 will likely power the Google Pixel 12 lineup next year. The chip is expected to continue Google’s AI-focused design approach seen in earlier Tensor processors.

Detailed specifications are still limited. However, analysts believe the Tensor G7 could be made using TSMC’s advanced 2nm manufacturing process. This may provide better performance and improved power efficiency compared to current-generation chips.

Even before the Pixel 11 series launches, information about the Pixel 12 processor is already appearing online. Reports suggest the platform will focus heavily on on-device AI tasks. This may include real-time image and video processing, advanced camera features, and deeper system-level automation. The development matches Google’s larger plan to bring more AI-powered features into its hardware and software ecosystem.

Earlier leaks about the Tensor G6 also suggest that Google may use TSMC’s 3nm process for the Pixel 11 generation chip. The processor is expected to feature a multi-core CPU setup with prime, performance, and efficiency cores. It may also include a PowerVR-based GPU and a modem supplied by MediaTek.

This Tensor G6 architecture is expected to appear in several models, including the Pixel 11, Pixel 11 Pro, Pixel 11 Pro XL, and Pixel 11 Pro Fold. These devices are expected to prepare the way for the more advanced Tensor G7 generation later.

Apart from Google’s plans, the Indian and global smartphone markets are also seeing many new launches and discount offers in early 2026. OnePlus has already launched the Nord CE 6 5G and Nord CE 6 Lite 5G in India. These phones are positioned as mid-range 5G devices, with prices starting around ₹29,999 for the base model. They are available through Amazon and OnePlus’s online store.

At the same time, industry reports show that India’s technology spending is expected to continue growing in 2026, although at a slightly slower pace than last year. The growth is being driven by demand for smartphones, cloud services, and AI-powered devices.

These trends suggest that future processors like the Tensor G7 and smartphones such as the Nord CE 6 series will enter a market that is becoming more focused on AI features and value-for-money hardware.
