Xiaomi has expanded its paid battery upgrade program in China to include the entire Xiaomi 13 series. This means older phone users can now get bigger batteries instead of replacing them with the same ones.
Xiaomi President Lu Weibing shared this update on Weibo and confirmed that the Xiaomi 13, Xiaomi 13 Pro, and Xiaomi 13 Ultra are all eligible for higher-capacity battery replacements.
The standard Xiaomi 13 is upgraded from a 4,500mAh battery to 4,850mAh, which adds 350mAh more capacity. The Xiaomi 13 Pro gets a bigger increase, going from 4,820mAh to 5,361mAh, adding 541mAh. The Xiaomi 13 Ultra is upgraded from 5,000mAh to 5,500mAh, giving an extra 500mAh. These increases can improve daily phone use and help the device last longer without needing to buy a new phone.
The battery replacement service costs CNY 189, which is about Rs. 2,600 or around $28, and this price includes the labor charges. Xiaomi has said that availability might be limited, so users may need to act quickly. Instead of keeping bigger batteries only for new phones, Xiaomi is offering this option so current users can extend their phone’s life with better battery capacity.

There are some important points users should know before choosing this upgrade. Charging may take longer because the new batteries are larger. If the phone is fully drained, it may need to stay plugged in for 15 to 30 minutes before showing any charging sign, which could confuse some users. Also, third-party apps might not show the correct battery capacity after replacement, so users should check battery details in the phone’s Settings app.
After the new battery is installed, the phone may feel slightly warmer for some time. Xiaomi says this happens because the system is adjusting in the background. The phones may also need to be updated to a specific software version before getting the new battery, since the upgraded batteries are different in capacity and charging behavior.

This program is different from the usual service center approach, where users normally get the same battery as before, as it now offers better battery performance than when the phone was new.
Xiaomi earlier started this program with the Xiaomi 13 Ultra and later expanded it to include the Xiaomi 13 and Xiaomi 13 Pro. This gives users a chance to improve their current phone at a low cost instead of spending much more money on a newer Xiaomi 14 or 15 model. Users can book this service through the Xiaomi Mall app, making it easy and convenient to use.
