Honor has officially confirmed that its flagship Magic series phones will now receive seven full years of Android operating system upgrades and security fixes. This is a big jump from the earlier promise of five years.

The company shared this news at the Mobile World Congress event in Barcelona during early 2025. The move fits into Honor’s ALPHA PLAN, which aims to make phones last longer and cut down on wasted electronics.
The Honor Magic7 Pro is the first model to get this extended support. Users in European Union countries will be the first to receive it. This is interesting because the Magic7 Pro was originally launched with a five-year update promise. Now, Honor is giving it two extra years of support.
The seven-year deal includes both major Android version updates and regular security patches that protect the phone from new threats. With this change, Honor now matches Google and Samsung, the only other big brands that offer seven years of Android updates on their top phones.
Before this update, Honor’s best devices got five years of system and security updates. Adding two more years puts Honor in the same group as companies that let people keep their phones longer without worrying about outdated or unsafe software.
Honor explains that this extended support helps users access new AI features for a longer time, because most AI tools on phones require the newest Android versions and updated security layers to work properly. The plan covers both regular flagship phones and foldable models in the Magic series. It does not include the cheaper Magic Lite devices.
The Magic7 Pro launched globally in January 2025 with Android 14 and Honor’s MagicOS 9. With seven years of updates, it should reach around Android 22 by January 2032. In the future, Honor will add more flagship models to this seven-year plan, including new standard phones and foldables. Lite models will continue with the older, shorter support policy.
