Toyota India Sales Rise in May 2026 as Hybrid Demand Hits New Milestone

Toyota Kirloskar Motor had a strong sales month in May 2026. The company sold 33,128 units in total, which was higher than the 30,864 units sold in May 2025. This gave Toyota a year-on-year growth of 7.34%.

The company’s domestic sales also went up. Toyota sold 30,574 vehicles in India in May 2026, up from 29,280 units in the same month last year. This means domestic sales grew by 4.42% year-on-year. Sales were also slightly better than April 2026, when the company sold 30,159 units. In May, domestic sales rose by 415 units, which is a 1.38% month-on-month increase.

A major point for Toyota this month was the strong response to hybrid vehicles. The company crossed the milestone of 3 lakh Strong Hybrid Electric Vehicle sales in India. This shows that more Indian buyers are accepting hybrid technology and Toyota’s cleaner mobility plans are gaining support.

Toyota also said its results reflect good market acceptance of its products and ownership experience. According to the company, customers are showing more interest in quality, reliability, and advanced technology.

Exports were another big reason for Toyota’s growth in May 2026. The company exported 2,554 units, up from 1,584 units in May 2025. It rose by a strong 61.24% compared with the same period last year. Because of this, Toyota’s total sales for the month reached 33,128 units.

The company also performed well in the first five months of 2026. From January to May 2026, Toyota sold 1,57,225 units in the domestic market, up from 1,35,078 units in the same period last year. This was a growth of 16.40%.

During the same period, exports rose to 13,097 units from 10,943 units a year earlier. This showed a 19.68% increase. In total, Toyota sold 1,70,322 units in the January to May 2026 period, compared to 1,46,021 units in the same period of 2025. That gave the company overall growth of 16.64%.
