Apple’s Biggest Siri Upgrade Yet Expected to Headline WWDC 2026

Apple is preparing to give Siri its biggest update ever, and this is expected to happen at WWDC 2026. The event is scheduled to run between June 8 and June 12.

According to insiders, the main highlight will be a completely redesigned Siri that works more like a modern AI chatbot instead of the old voice assistant we know. This new Siri will be a key part of iOS 27 for iPhone and iPad, iPadOS 27, and macOS 27, powered by Apple’s Apple Intelligence system and stronger AI features.

Instead of answering just one question at a time, the new Siri will be able to handle longer, natural conversations. You will be able to ask multiple related questions together, and Siri will still understand you. It will also be able to see what is on your screen and take actions inside apps without you opening them manually. For example, you could say “send a thank-you message to the last person I messaged” or “move the attachment from that email to my Notes,” and Siri will connect your messages, email, and Notes to complete the task.

One major change is that Siri will get its own app on the home screen for the first time. This app will work on iPhone, iPad, and Mac, and your Siri conversations will stay synced across devices using iCloud. Inside the app, Siri will look like a chat conversation, showing your previous chats, giving quick prompts to start, and allowing you to upload files, photos, or screenshots for Siri to read and explain. Apple is also expected to use Google’s Gemini models for more complex questions, while keeping sensitive tasks on your device for privacy.

Siri’s design is also changing. Apple’s WWDC 2026 artwork already hints at the new look. The interface will have glowing animations and soft lighting, especially in dark mode. On iPhone, Siri will connect with the Dynamic Island at the top and expand when you activate it. Instead of only speaking, you will see a “Search or Ask” prompt with a glowing cursor, like a chat box where you can type. The same style will appear inside the new Siri app, combining quick search and longer chat.

Internally, Siri will become smarter and more connected to apps. With your permission, it will work with apps like Messages, Mail, Calendar, Notes, Reminders, and Photos. This means Siri can help you find old messages, write replies, schedule meetings, manage tasks, and even summarize long emails or documents. Apple is also improving Siri’s ability to handle multi-step tasks, so you can ask it to book a meeting, invite people, and add a reminder in one single command.

Apple may also allow Siri to connect with other AI assistants in the future. Leaks suggest Siri could act as a gateway to chatbots like Google’s Gemini, Anthropic’s Claude, and others, letting you choose which AI to use for different tasks. This could grow into an “AI-store” system where developers add their own AI tools using App Intents. These help Siri understand what each app can do and perform actions inside them, making voice control much more powerful.

WWDC 2026 will be the first time Apple officially shows this new Siri, but it may not be available to everyone immediately. Some features might already be appearing in recent iOS updates, but the full version is expected with iOS 27 and related updates. Developers at the event will likely get early access to tools that help their apps work better with Siri, create shortcuts, and respond naturally to voice and text.

For users in India and tech writers, this update is important for mobile AI. It will be compared to systems like Google’s Gemini and Samsung’s Galaxy AI, especially in how well they handle Indian languages and accents. If Apple can make Siri fast, reliable, and private, it could become a major reason for people to choose iPhone, iPad, and Mac. As WWDC 2026 approaches, attention will remain on how Apple balances advanced AI features with real-life performance, and whether the new Siri truly feels useful in everyday life.
