Red Magic Gaming Tablet 5 Pro: Powerful 9-Inch Gaming Beast Launching Soon

Red Magic Gaming Tablet 5 Pro is getting a lot of attention right now. It is a small but very powerful gaming tablet that is expected to launch soon. Leaks and teasers from Red Magic show that it is made for serious mobile gamers who play games like Genshin Impact, Honkai Star Rail, and PUBG Mobile, without needing to carry heavy gaming consoles.

Red Magic’s CEO, Jiang Chao, said it will launch in China around April or May 2026, and a global launch will likely happen soon after. This timing matches with other new devices like the Nintendo Switch 2 and the updated Steam Deck OLED.

The tablet has a 9-inch size, which is easy to carry and use not as small as a phone and not too big either. It comes with a 9-inch OLED screen with a resolution of 2400x1504. It also has a very smooth 185Hz refresh rate and a fast 1200Hz touch response, which is better than the Switch 2 (120Hz) and Steam Deck (90Hz) for fast gaming. The design is fully flat with no camera bump, so it feels comfortable to hold in landscape mode without anything poking your fingers.

Inside, it uses Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 processor. This chip has a new third-generation Oryon CPU and a better NPU for faster and smarter performance. The tablet can come with up to 24GB RAM and 1TB storage, so it can run many apps and games at the same time smoothly. To control heat, Red Magic has added its first tablet liquid cooling system. It uses a liquid-metal vapor chamber and a fast 18,000 RPM fan, which can lower the temperature by 5 to 8 degrees during heavy gaming, so performance does not drop.

The battery is 8,300mAh and supports 80W fast charging. It also has a bypass charging feature, which sends power directly to the system instead of the battery while gaming, helping keep the device cooler. The tablet will come in three colors: Tritium Transparent Silver Wing, Dark Night, and Zenith Gold Legend.

It also has customizable RGB lights on the back for a gaming look. On the software side, it includes ByteDance’s Doubao AI model, which may help with game tips, voice controls, and analyzing gameplay, though more details are still coming.

The expected starting price is around 3,999 RMB (about $550 USD) for the 12GB RAM and 256GB storage version. With offers, it could go down to around 3,500 RMB. This places it between cheaper tablets like Lenovo Legion Y700 and high-end ones like iPad Pro, but it is specially made for Android gamers. There may also be extra accessories like cooling fans, controllers, styluses, and cases to match different gaming styles.

This launch comes at a time when mobile and tablet gaming worldwide is expected to reach $119.9 billion this year, growing by 18.4% from last year. Many users are unhappy with issues like the Switch 2’s battery life or the Steam Deck’s heavy weight of 640 grams. Red Magic aims to offer a better option that is lighter than handheld consoles and has a bigger screen than phones. There are also rumors of features like dual shoulder buttons and a transparent design, which are increasing excitement as people wait for the final announcement.
