Vivo Y500s Launched with 7200mAh Battery, 120Hz Display and Budget 5G Focus

Vivo Y500s is a new budget 5G phone launched quietly in China by Vivo. This phone mainly focuses on a very large battery, basic 5G performance, and a simple design instead of high-end cameras or very fast performance.

It is made for daily use, especially for people who care more about long battery life and durability than gaming power or premium materials. It is part of the Y500 series, along with models like Vivo Y500i and Vivo Y500 Pro, which all have big batteries, mid-range specs, and some level of protection.

The phone has a 6.75-inch HD LCD screen with a 120Hz refresh rate, which makes scrolling smooth. The resolution is 1570 × 720 pixels, which is good enough for watching videos and normal use, but not as sharp as more expensive phones. The design is simple with flat edges, and it includes a side fingerprint sensor along with face unlock for easy access.

Inside, the phone runs on the Snapdragon 4 Gen 2 processor, which is made for everyday tasks and efficiency, not heavy gaming. It also uses the Adreno 613 for graphics, suitable for light gaming and media use.

The phone offers up to 12GB RAM and up to 512GB storage, giving enough space for apps, photos, and videos. It runs on Android 16 with OriginOS 6, which adds useful features, smoother performance, privacy tools, and battery-saving options.

The camera setup is simple. It has a 50MP main camera on the back with f/1.8 aperture, good for normal photos in daylight and decent indoor shots. It supports features like HDR, night mode, and portrait mode. On the front, there is an 8MP camera for selfies and video calls. Video recording supports 1080p, focusing on stable videos rather than cinematic quality.

One of the biggest highlights is its 7,200mAh battery, designed for long usage like calls, browsing, and streaming. It supports 44W fast charging and also reverse charging, which means it can charge other devices.

The phone also has IP-rated protection for water, dust, and shocks, making it more durable. It includes 5G, 4G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS, NFC, USB Type-C, and even an infrared remote. Other features include sensors and dual stereo speakers for better sound.

The phone measures 166.64 × 78.43 × 8.39mm and weighs about 219 grams, making it slightly heavy but usable with one hand. It comes in Galaxy Silver, Obsidian Black, and Phoenix Gold colors. The design is minimal with a matte back and circular camera module, and the fingerprint sensor is built into the power button.

In China, the starting price is CNY 1,800 (around ₹24,800) for the 8GB + 256GB model. Other versions like 12GB + 256GB and 8GB + 512GB cost CNY 2,200 (around ₹30,400). It has been on sale since March 2026 through Vivo’s China store. There is no official information yet about launch in India or other countries.

This phone follows Vivo’s Y-series strategy of offering affordable 5G phones with large batteries and useful features instead of top-end specs. Compared to models like the Vivo Y500 and Vivo Y500 Pro, the Y500s is slightly less powerful but still offers good battery life, storage, and performance for daily use.

Overall, the Vivo Y500s is a good option for users who want strong battery life, 5G support, and decent performance at a reasonable price. It may not be ideal for heavy gamers, but it is suitable for students and everyday users who want a reliable phone that lasts long and charges quickly.
