OnePlus is once again creating excitement with new leaks about its upcoming flagship phone, the OnePlus 16. Reports from tipsters on Weibo suggest the phone could bring major upgrades compared to the OnePlus 15, which launched in India in November 2025.
Although OnePlus has not officially confirmed anything yet, the device is expected to launch in late 2026, possibly during the fourth quarter, following the company’s usual yearly launch cycle.
The OnePlus 16 is expected to use the new Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro chipset with model number SM8975. This Qualcomm processor may offer clock speeds up to 5GHz for fast gaming, multitasking, and AI performance. The phone could come with LPDDR6 RAM and UFS 4.1 storage. Storage options may start from 12GB RAM and 256GB storage, while higher models could offer up to 16GB RAM and 1TB storage. Expandable storage is not expected.

The display could feature a flat BOE X5 OLED panel with 1.5K or 1220p resolution. The phone may also include very slim 1mm bezels on all sides for a modern look. LTPO and LIPO technologies are expected to support a very high refresh rate that could reach 240Hz, giving smoother scrolling and gaming. The design is also expected to stay slim while offering bright and colorful visuals.
For cameras, the OnePlus 16 may include a 200-megapixel periscope telephoto lens using a large Samsung sensor for better zoom photos. It could also feature a 50-megapixel main camera and a 50-megapixel ultra-wide camera. On the front, the phone may offer either a 32 megapixel or 50-megapixel selfie camera. Improved image processing is also expected.
Battery performance may become one of the phone’s biggest strengths. The phone is rumored to pack a huge 9,000mAh battery, which may easily last through heavy daily use. It is also expected to support 100W wired fast charging and 50W wireless charging. The device may come with an IP69 rating for strong water and dust resistance.

Other expected features include an X-axis linear motor for better vibration feedback, dual stereo speakers for improved sound, and a dedicated AI button for smart OxygenOS 17 features based on Android 17. The phone may also use a next-generation ultrasonic in-display fingerprint sensor for faster and safer unlocking.
These leaks come from trusted tipsters like Digital Chat Station, but the final specifications may still change before launch. OnePlus has not revealed the official launch date or pricing yet. However, based on the leaks, the OnePlus 16 could become a strong flagship smartphone with powerful performance, a massive battery, and advanced features.
