Oppo is changing its plan for the next big software update called ColorOS 17. Instead of adding many new features or completely changing how the screen looks, the company will focus on making the basic user experience better and smoother.

Chen Xi, who is the design director for ColorOS, said this in a post on Weibo. He explained that during the summer, the team is working on improving the core performance, so any new features will be added later.
This message goes against a rumor that was spreading in China. A tipster named Digital Chat Station said that ColorOS 17 would use Apple\u2019s new Liquid Glass design, which came with iOS 26 and has shiny, glass-like looks.
Chen Xi replied to that claim by saying those leaked designs are probably for another brand and not for Oppo. He made it clear that ColorOS 17 will not have a big visual redesign.
ColorOS 17 will run on Android 17 and will most likely be shown off with the new Oppo Find X10 series phones. Most reports say it will launch in China in September or October 2026, and then come to other countries like India later. The earlier version, ColorOS 16, came out in October 2025 with the Find X9 series.

It had new animations, more ways to customize, and features like Project Breeze and Master Cut. It also added AI tools such as AI Eraser, AI Portrait Glow, AI Unblur, and AI Reflection Remover, plus improvements to O+ Connect and Screen Mirroring.
Oppo now thinks users care more about smooth performance and fewer bugs than constant changes to the look. Summer is usually when developers work on fixing and improving the system, not adding new things, which is why features will wait. This means ColorOS 17 will first build a strong and smooth base before adding fresh features later.

The Oppo Find X10 phone is expected to have a MediaTek Dimensity 9600 chip, a 1.5K AMOLED screen with 120Hz refresh rate, up to 16GB RAM, and a very large 8,500mAh battery with 100W fast charging.
It will also have IP68 or IP69 rating to protect against water and dust. When ColorOS 17 reaches other countries, it will bring these performance improvements to users who have faced slow speed or bugs in older versions.
