WhatsApp is testing a new feature that could make its chat list much cleaner and easier to use. In the latest Android beta version, the app is trying out a system that automatically hides business chats after 24 hours.
These are the kinds of messages you usually get from brands, shops, or services after signing up for something online. At first, these chats will still appear in your main inbox so you can read or respond to them if needed. But if you don’t interact with them within a day, they will quietly move out of your main chat list into a separate section, similar to how archived chats work.
This change is meant to solve a common problem many users face too many promotional or automated messages filling up their chat screen. Instead of forcing users to manually archive or mute these conversations, WhatsApp will handle it automatically.

You still get enough time to check important updates like delivery notifications or account alerts, but after that, they won’t keep taking up space in your main chat area. This way, your personal conversations with friends and family stay easy to find, while business messages remain stored safely in one place if you need them later.
The idea behind this feature comes from the growing use of messaging apps by businesses. More companies are now using WhatsApp instead of phone calls to send updates, offers, and reminders. While this is convenient, it has also led to a lot of clutter.
